Three Random Fitness/Training Thoughts

These three thoughts popped into my head and I figured I would share them with you...

1. Cool down.

Something I have been doing more and with myself and clients is performing a cool down stretch or mobility exercise after training. I feel like it is really helping with recovery for my next training session and have had positive reviews from clients too. 

I think this is especially important for people who come from work to train midday and then head back to the office. It's important to work on recovery and moving some fluid out before you go back to sitting the rest of the day. It's also a really nice "zen" moment where you can slow down and collect your thoughts.

2. Speaking of sitting all day.

Try kneeling at your desk for an hour each day. Not only is this a great way to sneak in some hip mobilizing and stretching, but it is also a great way to be more cognizant of your posture and take some time off from sitting.

If I have a long stretch of work to do at my desk, I try to do at least half of it while kneeling down on one knee.

3. Drink more water, and stop talking about how you need to start drinking more.

This should be an easy fix. And, can be a game changer for a lot of people who only drink 20-40oz of water each day. Remember - drink half your bodyweight in pounds in ounces of water. 

i.e., 200lb person should drink 100oz of water.

Chug two glasses first thing in the morning to get a head start on meeting this number. You won't be able to drink more water unless you put some effort into it.
