November Challenge

Each month we have a monthly challenge workout that anyone can take on. Typically, there’s a baseline level of strength needed to play, and if you have that, it’s all about getting it done fast. Think of it as the ability to move large loads, long distances, quickly. Which, also happens to be the equation for power.

There are no weights this month. However, this conditioning challenge is still about how much power you produce—the more you can make, the faster you’ll get it done.

GAIN NOVEMBER CHALLENGE
For time:
100 calorie Concept 2 bike

I’ve been repeating challenge workouts every other month for most of the year, and November was supposed to be a repeat of last year’s 2-mile AirBike for time. There’s a few reasons I went with the change. First, repeating a tough challenge like that, while beneficial, is tough mentally . Second, Luke is severely allergic to the AirBike. I once saw him sit on it for 15 seconds before running away. He hasn’t been back on one since.

Then earlier this week I saw that Assault Fitness, who makes the AirBike, filed for bankruptcy. They got bought out by private equity a couple years ago and they ran it into the ground. Shocking.

Because of those reasons I went with a similar challenge but a different bike this year. I did 100 cals for time a few weeks ago, and scored within 2 seconds of my AirBike 2-mile time. I think many of you will have a similar time and a similar feeling to last year’s test, just with a different bike.

Looking forward to getting some more names on the board for this tough challenge. Anyone who can sit on a bike can do this challenge. It isn’t about trying to win, it’s about pushing yourself past your comfort zone. Get involved!
