Readiness

There are a couple ways to check your readiness when you get to the gym.

Maybe you’ve been subject to my new vertical jump tester, which measures how high you up.

In the most obvious experiment ever - we found that peoples’ jump increases once they get a little warmed up and worked out.

Same when you check your grip strength. It’s usually lower when cold, and after a few sets of something the number goes up.

You might have noticed the same thing on the slack block. First attempt is hard to find your balance before smoothing out and finding the rhythm.

What does this have to do with readiness?

Some days that first jump, squeeze or balance feels good. Like really good, right away.

That’s a sign that your body is ready, and feeling good. Maybe that’s your sign you had a good night’s sleep, or you’re feeling revved up and ready to make a weight jump.

The gym can teach you to listen, and be in tune with, your body. These tools can help you calibrate how you feel, and are an easy way to check in before a training session.
